Hayward Navigator Gets Stuck on Steps
Does your Hayward Navigator pool cleaner get stuck on the pool steps? If so, try the following troubleshooting tips to help identify the problem.
Hose Too Short - the Hayward Navigator hose should reach to the furthest point in the pool, plus an additional two hose sections. If the hose is too short, the cleaner can end up running in one place for long periods of time.
Not Enough Suction - make sure there is enough suction to allow the cleaner to work properly. While the pool equipment is on, lift the Hayward Navigator to just below the surface of the water and feel to see if there is a reasonable amount of suction getting to the cleaner. If there doesn't seem to be enough pressure, make sure all baskets are clear of debris, the main pool filter is clean, and that the diverter valve is open to the pool cleaner.
Worn Shoes - If the shoes on the cleaner are worn down, the cleaner will get stuck and operate in one spot for extended periods of time. If this is the case, replace the shoes.
Worn or Missing Wings - If the wings on the cleaner are worn or missing, the cleaner may not be able to work its way away from the steps or corners of the pool. Check the wings and replace them if necessary.
If following these troubleshooting tips doesn't solve the problem with your Hayward Navigator pool cleaner, there is probably a mechanical issue. Call your local pool professional for help.
